01/02/2026  Bottled Water Price Monitored

National

Following the ongoing water supply disruption, the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, JPES, through the Department of Consumer Affairs, continues to inspect and monitor business premises, especially for the sale of bottled water.

Inspections are carried out to monitor prices and ensure that traders comply with legal provisions and do not take advantage of the current situation by raising prices excessively or unreasonably on goods and services, especially basic necessities that are experiencing increased demand.

Traders are reminded not to take advantage of the temporary disruption in water supply. Any unreasonable price increases that burden consumers will be taken seriously and may constitute an offence under existing consumer protection legislation.

Members of the public who are faced with issues of excessive or unreasonable price increases are welcome to channel their complaints to the Department of Consumer Affairs via the Talian Darussalam 123 or via the consumer complaint email 'aduanpengguna@JPES.GOV.BN'. Any complaints must be accompanied by supporting documents such as purchase receipts, price pictures, or other relevant information, to facilitate further investigation or enforcement action. JPES will continue to monitor and will take appropriate enforcement action to protect the interests of consumers and promote fair and ethical business practices.
